Love, Romance and Other Misadventures
Featuring Elissa Johnston, soprano & Jamal Moore, bass
June 8th, 2024
7:30 PM
RCC Coil School of the Arts
Join us June 8th for this lovely, loving and lively concert. We have two captivating soloists who will mesmerize your senses.
Elissa Johnston takes us on a journey, celebrating spring and love in songs written by Berlioz:
“Spring has come, my lovely,
It is the month blessed by lovers;
And the bird, preening his wing,
Speaks verse from the edge of his nest.
Oh! come now to this mossy bank
To talk of our beautiful love,
And say to me in your sweet voice:
"Always!"“
Followed by melancholy and the fear of the unattainable.
Jamal Moore will sing songs written by Mozart. Mozart provides a more light-hearted take on love and in his song Madamina, sung by Don Giovanni's servant Leporello to Elvira you will hear:
“In winter he likes fat ones.
In summer he likes thin ones.
He calls the tall ones majestic.
The little ones are always charming.
[…]
It doesn't matter if she's rich,
Ugly or beautiful;
If she wears a skirt,
You know what he does.”
This and many more masterpieces will get you in a romantic mood and ready for this summer.
